Moli becomes topic of discussion at National Games

By Mohammad Suhail Abbasi

DEHRADUN, 2 Feb: Due to the better performance of other states in the National Games, Uttarakhand has slipped from 13th to 18th position.

It was expected that the badminton team would get the gold medal, for which the women and men’s team gave a tough fight. The women’s team faced Haryana, in which Aditi won one match and earned points, but could not reach the gold medal due to losing in doubles. The men’s team faced Karnataka. There were high expectations from the men because after losing to Karnataka in the first round, they reached the semi-finals, but in the end Karnataka’s team proved to be stronger.

Uttarakhand also missed the medal in weightlifting. The players remained at fourth to seventh positions in different India categories. The state had high expectations from Vishal Rajwar in the 96 kg weight category, but Vishal remained at fourth position even though he lifted 260 kg.

The final and gold medal matches of the basketball 5×5 event were played in Bhagirathi Hall on Sunday. In the final match of the women’s category, Tamil Nadu won the gold medal by defeating Kerala 79-46. While Kerala got the silver medal. In the bronze medal match, Karnataka defeated Punjab 77-76 in a tough and thrilling match. In the men’s category, Punjab defeated Tamil Nadu 80-64 in a title match. And in the bronze medal match, Delhi defeated Services by 63-57.

Moli’s charm is also intact in these national games. Moli has become a topic of discussion in these games. Students from outside schools in the college are having a lot of fun with Moli. Sometimes they are very happy to include Moli in dance and sometimes in acting.

Focusing on sustainability, the theme of this year’s National Games is “Green Games”. A special park will be developed near the sports venue, which will be called Khel Van, where more than 10,000 plants will be planted by the athletes and guests. To promote greenery, mostly e-vehicles are being used at the sports venue. Bicycles have been brought for the volunteers, by which they are traveling from one sports venue to another.
