DEHRADUN, 26 Jul: Uttaranchal University celebrated Kargil Vijay Divas today with great enthusiasm and spirit. The programme was organised in the campus. At the outset, Chancellor Jitender Joshi offered flowers before the pictures of Param Vir Chakra winners, which was followed by heart-felt tributes to the soldiers by faculty members and non-teaching staff of the University. Slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Kargil Ke Shaheed Amar Rahein’ and also the names of Chakra Winners ignited the atmosphere with intense feelings of patriotism. Dr Vivek Kumar, a law faculty member, sang a patriotic song from the film ‘Shaheed’. Chancellor Joshi declared that soldiers on national duty were the real heroes and those who sacrificed their lives for the nation, the super-heroes. Principal of Law College Dehradun, Dr Rajesh Bahuguna in his spirited speech declared, “Today is the day to remember our martyrs by revisiting the sacrifices and instilling pride and respect amidst us on the saga of the valiant soldiers during the 60 day conflict between India and Pakistan to save the territorial integrity of the nation.” He also shared some facts that made the crowd emotional as they grasped the details of “’Operation Vijay’. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr Mukesh Bohra, Principal, and faculty members of Uttaranchal College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Those present on the occasion included Registrar Ajai Singh, Dr Rajesh Bahuguna, Dr Mukesh Bohra, Dr Manish Badoni, Dr Ajay Singh, Dr Anuj Mittal, Dr SK Shah, Dr SP Gairola, Dr Sumit Chaudhary, Rajeev Kukreti, VK Kaul, Nitin Duklan, JS Nakoti, Dr Vivek Kumar, Dr Anil Dixit, Kumar Ashutosh, Anjum Par vez, Dr Bharti Ramola, V Bhuvneshwari and hundreds of faculty members.
