Dehradun, 11 Aug: The new batch of students were welcomed today at Uttaranchal University, here, today.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Jitender Joshi, President, Uttaranchal University; Ankita Joshi, Vice President; Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor; Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice Chancellor; Prof Kartikey Gaur, Director, School of Liberal Arts; Dr Manish Badoni, Director, School of Hotel & Hospitality Management; Prof Rajendra Prasad, Director, School of Agriculture; and Dr Reeta Rautela, HoD, School of Liberal Arts.
Addressing the students, Jitender Joshi, welcomed the new batch and motivated them to remain focused on their studies and future goals. He advised students to stay away from drugs and other distractions and make the best use of their time at the University. He encouraged the students to work with dedication and build a successful future.
Prof Dharam Buddhi welcomed the students and encouraged them to make sincere efforts towards their academic and personal growth. He emphasised discipline, learning and active participation in university life and motivated students to make the most of the opportunities available to them. He particularly encouraged agriculture students to focus on regenerative and smart agriculture and develop an understanding of sustainable farming practices for the future.
Prof Rajesh Bahuguna congratulated the students on becoming a part of the Silver Jubilee Year of the University and administered the oath to the new batch, encouraging them to uphold the values and responsibilities of the institution. Speaking about Uttarakhand’s rich natural and cultural heritage, he highlighted the responsibility of students towards society and the state and emphasised the importance of research and innovation.
Prof Kartikey Gaur welcomed the new students and congratulated their parents on the beginning of this important phase in their children’s lives. Dr Manish Badoni highlighted the importance of practical exposure and professional readiness in the hospitality sector. Prof Rajendra Prasad welcomed the new students and spoke about the changing face of Indian Agriculture. He said, “Ab desh ka culture smart agriculture hai,” highlighting the growing importance of digital technology, research, innovation and modern farming practices. The programme ended with a vote of thanks and recitation of the national song.
