Dehradun, 7 Jun: ‘Uttarakhand Purvasainik Evam Ardhasainik Sangathan’ with assistance from HQs Uttarakhand Sub Area, today, organised a veteran mela and medical camp at Village Koti, Tehsil- Ghansali, District Tehri Garhwal. Veer Naris of 1965, 1962 and 1971 wars were felicitated during the outreach and 29 Veer Naris, widows of veterans including the Second World War were honoured by Uttarakhand Purvsainik Evam Ardhasainik Sangathan.
Under the supervision of Uttarakhand Sub Area the following teams assisted the event – District Soldiers’ Board, Tehri Garhwal; Colonel Yogendra, Secretary, District Soldiers’ Board; Records Garhwal Rifles.
The State and Health Department along with four Doctors and staff examined the health of veterans, veer naris and widows of veterans along with the villagers.
On this occasion, Colonel KP Bhatt and Colonel Raghubir Bhandari, President, Poorva Sainik Sangathan, were also present.
In village Koti, there are 174 families of all arms and services, out of which 6 are Officers, 33 JCOs and 135 ORs serving and retired. Out of 174 ex-servicemen, 17 soldiers of different ranks are veterans of World War 2.
Approximately, 370 people benefitted from the medical camp and utilised the facilities.
