Voter awareness campaign conducted on World Book Day in Doon

Dehradun, 24 Apr: In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, Chief Election Officer, Uttarakhand, and District Magistrate and District Election Officer Dehradun Savin Bansal, and Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah, a voter awareness campaign was conducted in the district on the occasion of World Book Day 2025. The main programme was held at The Doon Library & Research Centre at Parade Grounds. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various schools.

The event featured a range of activities, including painting, rangoli, speeches, and poster slogan competitions, with 200 students actively taking part.

Additional District Magistrate (Admin) Jai Bharat Singh graced the occasion as the chief guest in the auditorium of Doon Library. Other dignitaries present included Chief Education Officer, Dehradun, Vinod Dhoundiyal, District Education Officer (Basic), DPO (Coordinator SWEEP) Jitendra Kumar, Assistant District Election Officer Prakash Chandra Tripathi, and Kuldeep Singh Kandari, Spokesperson (Co-Coordinator Sweep). Teachers from various schools also participated in the programme.

During the event, the participants were provided valuable information on voter awareness, the process of registration in the voter list, and the voting and election procedures. Those who secured first, second, and third positions in the various competitions were honoured with prizes. The event concluded with the administration of the voter’s oath to all present, reinforcing the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
