Workers hold protest rally in Mussoorie

Mussoorie, 24 Apr: Hundreds of workers under the banner of Mussoorie Majdoor Sangh held a protest rally against the Municipal Council from Picture Palace to the Council office, here, today. The labour leaders alleged that due to the negligence and corruption in the Council, people were facing lots of problems. The arrangements on the Mall Road had also been disrupted. They further alleged that the promises made by Chairman Anuj Gupta to the workers during the election to the council hadn’t been delivered.
The workers demanded restrictions on motorcycle and scooter taxis on the Mall Road, as tourists coming from all over the world faced lots of problem. They further demanded vacation of the Labour House at Barloganj which had allegedly been illegally acquired by former member, Shivani Bharti. Labour leader Sohan Singh Panwar, Gambhir Singh Panwar and Hukum Singh said that due to the negligence of the municipal administration, illegal two-wheeler taxis were being run on the Mall Road, which was creating a huge impact on their livelihood. They asked Chairman Anuj Gupta to intervene in the matter. They warned that, if the demands raised by them weren’t fulfilled by 15 May, they would launch a fierce agitation against the municipal administration.
Executive Officer ML Shah said that an action plan was being prepared for the Mall Road. He claimed the allegations of the labour leaders were baseless.
