Workshop held on ‘Glucose Tolerance Test’ at Dolphin PGI

Dehradun, 11 Sep: The Department of Pathology, Dolphin PGI, organised a one-day Workshop cum Conference on “Glucose Tolerance Test” on 9 September. The programme was based on Diabetes. The aim of the conference was to make participants aware of Diabetes and the purpose of the workshop was to provide good technical hands-on exposure to the Glucose Tolerance Test.
The programme was inaugurated by Institute Director Dr Arun Kumar, along with the invited speaker Dr Sanjay Bhatt, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Medical College, Bareilly. Dr Kumar praised the faculty and students for conducting the conference cum workshop. He discussed the disorders associated with pancreatic dysfunction and the role of insulin in glucose metabolism.
In the first academic session, expert Dr Sanjay Bhatt delivered a lecture on Glucose tolerance test and its significance. The programme continued with sampling of blood and processing by registered students in the presence of technical experts. Dr Bhatt also explained the result interpretation and graphical representation of the Test.
At the end of the programme, Institute Principal Dr Shailja Pant distributed certificates to the participants. Chairman Arvind Gupta also appreciated the efforts made by the Department of Pathology for skill enhancement of the students. Aditya Swarup, Rashmi Chauhan, Ankit Johari and Manmeet Singh along with other faculty, staff and students were present on the occasion.
