The celebrations commenced with the traditional Founders’ Day service held at the Sir Kirby Laing auditorium as the Principal Leslie Tindale kicked off the ceremony by welcoming the guests of honour, members of the board of management, and all visiting alumni and parents.
Following the opening prayer by Reverend Eric Templeton, the students from Wynberg – the junior wing of the school, presented a beautiful rendition of the hymn – “Wherever I go.” The school girls’ captain Samridhi Singh recited a crucial lesson from the Bible about the importance of love in the world.
The choir from Allen – the senior wing of the school was showered by a standing ovation after its powerful orchestral performance, singing the melodious song – “Praise.” The school captain for boys, Shlok Aggarwal led the school in the School Pledge.
The main highlight of the event was the resonating address delivered by the Chief Guest, Singh, who took the gathering through the importance of thought and modesty in the current world, leaving the audience with a lot to reflect upon.
Following the address, Nina Singh cut the school’s “Founders’ Day Cake” to cheered applause as WynbergAllen celebrated 137 years of inspiring young minds. After the closing prayer by Reverend Lazarus Cornelius, the service ended with a singing of the school song and the national anthem.
