Dehradun, 24 Dec: Students of Summerhill International School celebrated Christmas and the coming New Year with enthusiasm. The celebrations were held over three days. On 16 December, a “Cake Baking” session was organised for the children. Christmas is incomplete without the traditional cake. Additionally, cooking helps young children learn and practice some basic Math concepts and build language skills. The experience of creating meals can help build their self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits.
On 17 December, children enjoyed the special “Art and Craft” session, in which they were engaged in making Christmas decorations.
The last day of the celebration was on 18 December. Apart from the Christmas and New Year Celebrations, a Felicitation Ceremony was also organised. All the students of the school were recognised for their effort, talent, skill and behaviour. They were presented E-certificates in various categories.
The highlight of the celebration, the Nativity Scene, was enacted, depicting the birth of Jesus. Students of classes 1 to 5 dressed as different characters and presented the play beautifully.
The Xmas tree was decorated with colourful bells, stockings and stars. The parents joined their children in singing Carols. Santa, too, made a grand entry and extended season’s greetings.
