5G workshop of Telecom Dept held at IIT Roorkee

ROORKEE, 31 Jan: The Programme Implementation Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, Deepak Kumar participated as a special guest at the 5G workshop of the Union Department of Telecommunications held at the IIT, here, on Tuesday.

The Secretary first expressed his gratitude to the Department of Telecommunications that, out of 100 places across India, 5G labs were provided to 3 places in Uttarakhand, IIT Roorkee, THDC Engineering College, Tehri, and College of Technology, Pantnagar University. He also requested opening of 5G labs in other institutions like the Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), etc., in the future.

Apart from this, he requested the Member (Technical) from the DCC, who is the Ex-Officio Secretary in the Government of India, to open a centralised number on the lines of 198 for all the service provider companies of the Department of Telecommunications to address public complaints.

Apart from this, along with timely installation of 4G towers in about 2500 villages of Uttarakhand (for this, about 500 plots have been given to BSNL by the Uttarakhand government), about 6000 gram panchayats of 65 left out development blocks under BharatNet will also be provided fiber connections on time.

Apart from this, suggestions were also given to take some concrete measures to prevent fraud calls/sms and fraud/pop-up websites.

To promote the semiconductor industry under self-reliant India, it was also suggested to create posts like Member (Production) as before.

Director General-NTIPRIT, Dev Kumar Chakraborty, Director-IITR, Dr Pant, and Additional Director General – Western Uttar Pradesh, Shubha Bhambani also expressed their views on the occasion.
