Dehradun, 28 Oct: BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan today welcomed the provisions made for healthcare services and medical education in the Uttarakhand government’s supplementary budget, stating that the Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government has taken several forward-looking decisions keeping in mind the interests of common citizens, state employees and aspiring medical professionals.

Chauhan reminded that the government has made a provision of Rs 225 crores to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of cashless medical treatment facilities in the state. Of this, Rs 100 crores have been earmarked for the Atal Ayushman Yojana and Rs 125 crores for the Golden Card scheme for government employees. He said the allocation would provide financial relief to families facing the burden of treatment for serious illnesses while ensuring that state employees continue to receive the benefits of cashless healthcare services without disruption.

He claimed that the supplementary budget reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening health security and improving access to quality medical treatment across the state. According to Chauhan, the financial support extended to flagship healthcare schemes will help strengthen the overall health infrastructure and provide a safety net to thousands of beneficiaries.

Highlighting provisions made for medical education, Chauhan said an amount of nearly Rs 160 crores has been allocated under the capital head for the development of medical colleges and nursing colleges in Pithoragarh and Rudrapur. He said these investments would strengthen healthcare infrastructure in hilly and border areas while creating better opportunities for students pursuing medical education within the state.

Chauhan claimed that the Dhami government’s objective is to ensure that quality healthcare services reach people living in even the remotest parts of Uttarakhand. He noted that while one set of measures focuses on providing financial backing to cashless treatment schemes, the government is simultaneously working to strengthen the state’s medical education framework for the long term.

Describing the supplementary budget provisions as people-centric and development-oriented, Chauhan said the government’s focus extends from health security to medical education and infrastructure development. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the state government for what he termed a significant initiative aimed at improving healthcare services and expanding educational opportunities in the medical sector across Uttarakhand.
