Close win for BDPS in 5th Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament

Dehradun, 28 Apr: The only match played today in the Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-14 underway at Cambrian Hall and affiliated to the ‘Schools’ Cricket Federation of India’, was between Brain Discovery Public School (BDPS) and Indian Public School (IPS).
Poorvansh and Vinay opened the innings for BDPS. Both played wonderful cricket and contributed 119 for the opening wicket in 14.3 overs. Poorvansh made 63 in 43 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Vinay made 46 in 46 balls, hitting 5 fours. Later, Shabd made 7, Manish, 6, and Akshat, 8. IPS bowlers gave away 24 extras. Veer took 2 wickets, while Nityanand took one. BDPS made 154 for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a moderate score of 154, Siddharth and Sanjeet opened the innings for IPS. Both were out cheaply. Even Tushar couldn’t do much but Sandeep played a defiant innings and made 56 in 41 balls, hitting 10 fours. Rahul made 14, Rishabh 15 and Veer made a well deserved 44 in 34 balls. BDPS gave away 15 runs as extras. This was the most competitive match as difference of win and loss was of just one run. Vinay and Poorvansh took 2 wickets, each, which Akshat, Manish and Adnan got one wicket, each. Finally, IPS made 153 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Today was the last league match. Both the teams qualified for the Quarter Finals, which will start tomorrow.
