Dehradun, 25 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today virtually laid the foundation stones for road projects worth Rs 55 crore under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund, aimed at the reconstruction of the Gadarpur–Dineshpur–Matkota–Haldwani motor route and the widening and strengthening of the Manunagar–Gadarpur–Dineshpur–Matkota–Haldwani corridor in Udham Singh Nagar district.

On the occasion, Dhami stated that this construction initiative would be a milestone for the Terai region. Upon completion, the project is expected to facilitate smoother transportation and significantly boost trade, industry, and tourism, thereby providing a fresh impetus to the local economy. The route will connect Gadarpur, Dineshpur, Matkota, Chhatarpur and also link Vilaspur in Uttar Pradesh.

He added that nearly two lakh local residents, traders, and industrial workers in the region would benefit from safer and more convenient travel. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is setting new benchmarks in development and prosperity, with continuous strengthening of infrastructure in roads, education, health, and drinking water from urban centres to remote hill villages.

The CM also asserted that road connectivity across the state has improved significantly. Being a hill state, Uttarakhand frequently faces natural disasters that cause extensive damage to roads in mountainous areas. He noted that the government is working on a war footing to restore traffic movement in such regions.

Dhami further stated that under the PM’s leadership, a vast road network is being developed even in border areas. The double engine government is completing projects that had been pending for decades. Alongside unprecedented improvements in road connectivity, the government is also striving for the holistic development of the state through various initiatives.

He mentioned that the construction of the Jamrani Dam multipurpose project has been resumed to address drinking water and irrigation challenges across the Terai region. The establishment of an Industrial Smart City in Khurpia is accelerating development throughout the area. The government is also actively working towards the preservation and promotion of the state’s rich cultural heritage. Just as Kedarkhand has been revitalised, efforts are underway to restore and beautify the ancient temples of Manaskhand.

On this occasion, Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, MLA Shiv Arora, BJP State Secretary Gunjan Sukheja and other dignitaries were also present.
