Doon to soon become Smart City: Mayor

Mussoorie: 1 Feb: After attending the concluding ceremony of the three-day Jaunpur Festival, Dehradun Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama reached Mussoorie, where speaking to reporters he said that the festival is a good platform for local artists in which they display their talents. Speaking further he said that he has been constantly concerned about making Dehradun a smart city.
The action plan is being prepared he said and a meeting is been held every month regarding Smart City, under which many proposals are being discussed. He said that the area of the municipal corporation has increased from 64 sq km to 196 sq kms in which many rural areas are connected, with 40 wards he said as their priority is to provide basic facilities with toilets and street lights in all the wards of the municipal corporation. He said cleaning is a challenging job in Dehradun , but he is constantly working to clean the city in collaboration with employees and municipal authorities. He said that there is a huge shortage of sanitation workers in the municipal corporation as they have demanded recruitment of 450 sanitary workers.
Mayor Sunil Gama said that the Bharatiya Janata Party workers are fully prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He further said that the Congress party has ruled the country for more than 60 years but didn’t work for the development of the country as a result the country was lagging behind in the development race, but now BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for development and the country is touching new heights. He said that the Prime Minister has once again been working to make India a gold bird again. He further added that the Prime Minister has recently given 10 percent reservation to people on economic basis, while 50 crore people of the country are been benefitted under, Atal Ayushman scheme as Rs 5 lakhs have been provided to each citizen for free treatment. It is a historic work in itself, which will benefit BJP and PM Narendra Modi in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. On this occasion, former municipal president OP Uniyal, Ankush Nautiyal and others were present.
