Workshop on Adr reporting in Pharmacovigilance and Medical Coding Organised by Uttaranchal University

DEHRADUN: 1 Feb: Pharmacology Club, UIPS organised a workshop on ADR Reporting in Pharmacovigilance and Medical Coding. The Guest Speakers for the event were Ismeet Kaur (Consultant, WHO) and Himani Prajapati (Associate, PvPI, IPC). Prof (Dr) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor Uttaranchal University and Dean Research Uttaranchal University Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh were the Chief guests for the event. More than 200 students of Uttaranchal University, UTU, G.R.D., G.I.S. D.B.I.T., S.D.B.I.T, S.B.S, S.G.R.R), H.I.P.R. and S.I.P. were present at the workshop. The event started with the welcome speech for Guests and Speakers by Prof. N.K. Joshi followed by felicitation with bouquets and mementos. The guests inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp.
Prof.(Dr) N.K.Joshi mentioned that Pharmacovigilance is a science related to detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effect or any other drug related problem. He also appreciated the efforts of Ashish Gupta, Advisor and student members of the Pharmacology club, faculty and staff of UIPS for organising the wonderful and skill enhancing event. On this occasion Prof N.K.Joshi also announced the starting of two new courses on Pharmacovigilance from the coming session. Prof Ajay Singh also motivated students for gaining knowledge about Pharmacovigilance field as this field is not only limited to Pharma professionals but it is well related to all science stream students viz Biotechnology, microbiology etc.
The Inaugural session of the workshop imparted basic and fundamental knowledge and information on Pharmacovigilance practices. The focus of the workshop was Pharmacovigilance, Adverse drug reactions (ADR) and Medical coding. Both the speakers Ismeet Kaur and Himani Prajapati introduced the participants to the field of Pharmacovigilance and latest ADR reporting techniques.
The second session commenced after lunch break and included the sessions of Pharmacovigilance and Medical coding on questionnaire basis. The ADR reporting system was discussed and practices over online and vigiflow software. The students were very excited to know in depth about the field of Pharmacovigilance and Medical coding techniques. Dr. Anuj Mittal highlighted the importance of Pharmacovigilance and stressed upon the young professionals that the need of the hour is to have dynamic and robust Pharmacovigilance system the workshop ended by Vote of Thanks expressed by Dr Anuj Mittal (Director UIPS).
