Dehradun, 25 Mar: Faculty members and scholars were given training at Graphic Era to develop their research skills.
This training was given at a five-day faculty development programme organised in Graphic Era Deemed University. Today, addressing the programme, Research Officer at State Government’s Finance Department, Dr Rajiv Rana said that social science and public policy play a crucial role in the welfare of society. Research in social science focuses on minor issues of society while policies deal with major and more important issues.
In the programme, Punjab University Professor Pampa Mukherjee highlighted the importance of ethics in research.
In this five day FDP, Director of Centre for the Study of Society and Politics, Kanpur, Dr AK Verma, Professor Aniket Alam from IIT Hyderabad, Core-Director of Lokniti- Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Dr Varghese K from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Research Analysts from (CSDS) Jyoti Mishra and Vibha Attari shared insights on various topics related to research. This included topics such as basics of research in social science, sampling in survey research, selecting the right research question, questionnaire design, data extraction in large surveys and data analysis.
The FDP was organised by Graphic Era’s Human Resource Development Centre and Department of Humanities & Social Sciences in collaboration with Lokniti.
Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Narpinder Singh, HoD Dr Prabha Lama along with Dr Bharti Sharma, faculty and PhD scholars from various universities were present.
