DEHRADUN, 20 Jun: Elaborate arrangements have been put in place across the country for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled to be held on Sunday (today). In Uttarakhand, 53 examination centres have been established across 10 districts where more than 21,000 candidates are expected to appear for the test. In view of the examination, the police and civil administration have made stringent security arrangements to ensure its smooth and fair conduct.
To facilitate the peaceful and transparent conduct of the examination, the Dehradun district administration has imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) within a radius of 200 metres around all the examination centres. The restrictions prohibit the use of loudspeakers, sound amplification systems and any other noise-generating devices in the vicinity of the centres. The order has been issued in compliance with the National Testing Agency’s letter No N/020/NEET (UG)/2026-NTA dated June 11. 2026.
The administration on Saturday stated that any disturbance, excessive noise or disorder during the examination could adversely affect the concentration of candidates. Keeping this in view, special restrictions have been enforced around all examination venues.
Under the order, no person will be permitted to carry weapons, sticks, hockey sticks, swords, sharp-edged objects, explosives or materials related to gunpowder near the examination centres without valid reasons. The collection of bricks, stones, rods or any other objects that could be used to create disturbances has also been prohibited. The district administration has further banned slogan shouting, public announcements, the use of loudspeakers, provocative speeches, statements capable of inciting communal sentiments and the dissemination of misleading information in the vicinity of examination centres. Writing slogans on government buildings or public property and engaging in any objectionable activity have also been prohibited.
The order clearly states that gatherings of five or more persons at public places, intersections or other locations near examination centres will not be allowed. Processions involving buses, tractor-trolleys, two-wheelers or four-wheelers have also been banned. No public meeting, demonstration or procession can be organised without prior permission from the authorities.
The administration has directed that no person shall directly or indirectly cause damage to government property. Any violation of the restrictions will invite legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Speaking about the security arrangements, SP City Pramod Kumar shared that extensive measures had been put in place for the examination. He said that besides the police, Central Paramilitary Forces would also be deployed for escort duties related to the transportation of examination papers. A Sub-Inspector-rank officer has been designated as in-charge of every examination centre.
