CM participates in Hindi Diwas Samaroh, awards students

Dehradun, 14 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Languages Minister Subodh Uniyal participated in the ‘Hindi Diwas Samaroh-2024’ organised by Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan at IRDT Auditorium here today. On this occasion, he also released the book “Uttarakhand Ki Lok Kathayen” published by Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan. During the programme, the CM also awarded the students who secured the first three positions in poetry writing, story writing, travelogue writing and play writing competitions and also honoured the students who got the highest marks in Hindi in the board examinations.

Greeting the people on the Hindi Day, the CM expressed gratitude to the people who made important contributions for the upliftment and promotion of Hindi language. He said that Hindi Day is not just a celebration of a language but an occasion to take pride in Indian culture. He emphasised that Hindi is not just a language but the soul of the nation, connecting society and enriching its civilisation. Hindi has given the Indians a special place on the world stage. Hindi is not only a medium of communication for the countrymen but also a symbol of their identity, culture and Indianness. The CM noted that Hindi has the unique ability to unify diverse societies and has become a major bridge of communication across the Indian subcontinent and has tried to bind the country’s diverse society into one thread. Hindi, full of ease, simplicity and strength, has a wonderful ability to coordinate. The fame of Hindi is not limited to India only but it has become a major bridge of communication in the entire Indian subcontinent.

Dhami observed that at present, Hindi is being studied in various countries of the world. Hindi has also played an important role in bringing awareness in society. From the freedom struggle till today, Hindi has also been a major medium of social consciousness. During the freedom struggle, Hindi became the language of struggle and played an important role in binding the countrymen together. The CM claimed that the state government is continuously working for the upliftment of Hindi. He also praised the efforts being made by the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan for the promotion of the Hindi language. He also acknowledged the innovative work of the Uttarakhand Bhasha Sansthan in encouraging people and fostering linguistic development. He said that the State Government honours outstanding litterateurs under the ‘Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman’ to encourage dedication towards languages and traditions.  He also mentioned the Financial Assistance Scheme, which has provided grants to 17 writers, inspiring many others.

The CM stressed the importance of promoting Hindi as India moves towards global leadership, noting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to establish Hindi on the global stage through initiatives like ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ The Chief Minister called for collective responsibility in maintaining the pride of Hindi and encouraged everyone to adopt it in daily life to make it a strong language of the 21st century. He urged the youth to learn multiple languages and emphasised that early learning is beneficial for life.

Language Minister Subodh Uniyal expressed his gratitude to the CM on behalf of the Bhasha Sansthan and said that all the proposals submitted by the Bhasha Sansthan have been approved without any delay. He said that along with starting awards in various dialects, the institute is also working to encourage budding writers. He said that language upliftment is very important for the preservation and promotion of the culture. No one becomes small by working on the promotion of one’s language. He shared that recently the CM was urged to increase the amount of Sahitya Bhushan Award to Rs 5 lakh, which he immediately approved. This award will be given every year in the state.

On this occasion, MLA Khajan Das, litterateur and former Vice Chancellor Dr Sudha Rani Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Doon University Prof Dr Surekha Dangwal, Secretary Languages Vinod Raturi, and Director of Bhasha Sansthan Swati Bhadauria were among those present.
