Mussoorie, 24 Dec: Christmas will not be celebrated here publicly this year due to the Corona epidemic. There is a lot of disappointment in the Christian community. The district administration has directed not to organise any party or programme under the Covid-19 rules.
The historic Methodist Church has been decorated for the Christmas festival, but no prayer will be held inside, no one will be allowed to enter. The pastor said that a programme of virtual prayer has been organised by the church committee. A special prayer will be held on the night before Christmas, in which people from the Christian community will participate in virtual form through the Zoom app and pray for peace.
On the other hand, the oldest church located in the Char Dukan area of Mussoorie Cantonment has not been decorated this time. St Peters Church is the oldest church in Mussoorie, which was built in 1828. Pastor Vivek Singh said that due to Covid, the church will not be opened till the New Year.
In the meanwhile, author Ruskin Bond has greeted his fans on Christmas and New Year. He has asked the children to message Santa Claus about the gifts they want and what they want to do in the New Year.
