DEHRADUN, 23 Oct: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) met weightlifter Mohammad Kaif today. Kaif was on a courtesy visit to Raj Bhawan on Wednesday. Kaif informed the Governor that he won two gold medals and the world trophy in the 90 kg category at the Altyn Batyr Weightlifting World Championship 2024, bringing honor to India. This is the first time in the history of the championship that India has claimed the overall trophy.
Lt Gen Singh praised Kaif for his achievements and congratulated him on bringing pride to the country and the state. He emphasized that it is a matter of pride for the youth of Uttarakhand that promising individuals like Mohammad Kaif are determined and dedicated to achieving their goals.
Kaif is a student at Graphic Era Hill University, and the Governor also congratulated the university for its support. He urged society to contribute to the sponsorship of such talented youth, so that more young individuals can represent India internationally in the future.
