CM holds review of preparations for National Games to be hosted from 28 Jan

Dehradun, 9 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today held a detailed review of the preparations for the 38th National Games to be hosted by Uttarakhand. The review meeting was held at the Rajeev Gandhi International Stadium here today. The National Games would be held from 28 January to 14 February 2025, with the theme of Green Games.
During the review meeting, the CM emphasised the importance of completing all preparations on time with high-quality arrangements. He stressed that organising the National Games is not only a matter of pride for the state but also an opportunity to promote sports culture and development, establishing Uttarakhand as a sports hub.
Dhami directed officials to ensure that all facilities for the players are of high quality and easily accessible. He instructed the deployment of a nodal officer from each related department for the successful organisation of the games. Proper arrangements must be ensured for the management and monitoring of player accommodation, food, transportation, and venue access, with special attention to the quality and nutrition of food, he stressed.
Dhami directed Chief Secretary Radha Raturi to review all arrangements daily and announced that both the Sports Minister and he himself would periodically review the preparations. He emphasised the need for high standards in purchasing sports equipment and adequate medical facilities at the venues. Necessary arrangements for handling emergencies, security measures including CCTV cameras, and ensuring environmental protection at the venues were also highlighted.
The CM also urged strict measures to limit plastic use and to maintain cleanliness, proper drinking water, and toilet facilities for visitors. He stated that all departments must work in coordination for the successful organization of the games, with District Magistrates playing a significant role. The cooperation of the state’s people will also be essential for the event’s success.
Sunaina Kumari, President of the Games Technical Conduct Committee formed by the Indian Olympic Association, praised the preparations in Uttarakhand, noting rapid infrastructure development. Committee member Digvijay Singh also commended the infrastructure work and suggested trial runs of the stadiums before the games for a successful event.
During the meeting, officials shared their experiences from the National Games held in Gujarat and Goa. After the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami also met the archery players.
Sports Minister Rekha Arya, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Vice President of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dawar, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretaries RK Sudhanshu and L Fanai, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, and other officials were among those present.
