National Lok Adalat held at Debt Recovery Tribunal helps settle disputes of over Rs 100 crores

DEHRADUN, 13 Aug: The National Lok Adalat was today held at Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) Dehradun to settle cases related to debt recovery involving an amount totalling over Rs 100 crores of public money. This information was given by Advocate Rohit Dhyani.

The National Lok Adalat was held at DRT Dehradun under the Chairmanship of Umesh Kumar Sharma (HJS), as Presiding Officer along with Members Yogesh Kumar who is also Secretary/Registrar of DRT and RP Singh, Recovery Officer.

According to Dhyani, the Tribunal has started the ground work of the National Lok Adalat just after the last lok adalat held on 14 May, 2022 and it helped bear fruits. A total of 78 cases were settled at by the National Lok Adalat and disposed off involving money to the tune of approximately Rs 105 crores. .

Further, the Presiding Officer Umesh Kumar Sharma managed to bring the Bankers and Borrowers together to come forward to amicably settle their differences. It was decided to work out such settlements in future also. Yogesh Kumar, Registrar, informed that one very old case filed in the year 2005, by Punjab National Bank was also amicably settled through reconciliation during this National Lok Adalat.
