Srinagar (Garhwal), 2 Mar: Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University has opened the online application process for admission to PhD programs for the 2025-26 academic year. According to a notification issued by the university administration, candidates can apply through the online portal until the deadline. Research admissions will be offered in 11 faculties of the university: Agriculture and Allied Sciences, Science, Commerce, Earth Sciences, Education, Engineering and Technology, Arts and Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Management, and Law. Research opportunities are available in 46 subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, English, Hindi, Sociology, Computer Science, Journalism, Law, and Tourism. According to the university, admissions are proposed for a total of 484 seats this semester, including university campuses, affiliated colleges, and the JRF category. Reservations will be applicable in accordance with the provisions of the Central Government and the UGC. Eligibility requires a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55 percent marks (50 percent for reserved categories). The admission process will be based on scores from UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, GPAT, SEED, ICMR-NET, DBT-NET, ICAR-NET, or other national-level examinations, and an interview. Selection will carry 70 percent weightage for the examination score and 30 percent for the interview. Candidates will also be required to submit their research proposal during the interview. Online applications have begun on March 1, 2026, with the deadline set for March 15, 2025. The interview date will be announced separately by the relevant department. The application fee is Rs 700 for General, EWS, and OBC (non-creamy layer) categories, and Rs 350 for SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates. The university administration clarified that all information will be released only on the official website and no information will be sent by post. According to the university administration, the admission process is being conducted in accordance with the UGC (PhD) Regulations, 2022, and subsequent amendments issued in this regard.
In the meanwhile, online applications have been invited for the PhD entrance examination for the 2025-26 session at Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. Garhwal University Registrar Anees-uz-Zaman issued a notification stating that online forms for the PhD entrance examination for the 2025-26 session will be filled starting March 1. The deadline for filling applications is March 15, while the interview date will be determined by the respective departments. He stated that admission-related information can be obtained from the Garhwal University website. He added that Garhwal University has requested invitation letters for PhD programs in 46 different subjects. The online application form for the entrance examination can be filled by logging in to hnbguadm.samarth.edu.in.
