Mussoorie, 15 May: Dehradun SP (City) Shweta Chaubey directed police officials at a meeting organised in the Mussoorie Police station, to behave courteously with the tourists coming to the hill station and also to provide them proper information. She said that, as Mussoorie was dependent on tourists, it was the duty of locals and officials to provide them the basic amenities so that they didn’t face problems. She said that tourists coming to Mussoorie would be given information about the traffic condition via Radio FM, so that could plan accordingly.
A meeting was also hold with the representatives of various organisations and suggestions obtained about the coming tourist season so arrangements could be made better.
The new traffic plan was presented by Mussoorie Police In-charge Bhawna Kainthola for the tourist season. Many routes to Mussoorie have been diverted to adjacent areas so that less problem could be faced by tourists coming to Mussoorie. The SP instructed officials to install sign boards indicating the routes sanctioned for entering and exiting Mussoorie. She also urged the owners of hotels to instruct the tourists not to park their cars on the roads, particularly the Mall Road. She also instructed police officials to take strict action against people violating traffic rules and regulations.
Talking to Garhwal Post, she said that a new traffic plan had been made to control the traffic problem in Mussoorie. Some amendments would be done as suggestions had been invited during the meeting held with the representatives of various organizations. The administration has decided to enforce one-way traffic system in Mussoorie during peak season time. As per plan, the vehicles going towards Mussoorie from Kempty would be diverted to Spring Road Library Chowk so that there were no traffic jams. She claimed that the police was fully prepared for the coming tourism season. Additional police force had been deployed in Mussoorie, while the action plan to keep traffic on all the main roads smooth had been prepared.
