Dehradun/Pithoragarh, 28 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today virtually participated in the Mostamanu Festival and laid the foundation stones for 15 development projects in Pithoragarh district with a total cost exceeding Rs 62 crores. The projects are related to sectors such as health, education, drinking water and tourism, and are expected to strengthen infrastructure and services in the region.
In his address delivered virtually, the CM stated that the Mostamanu festival represents faith, trust and the rich traditions of Uttarakhand. He observed that it is not merely a religious or traditional celebration but an integral part of the state’s cultural and social fabric, reflecting the rural lifestyle closely linked with agriculture and animal husbandry. Such events, he asserted, contribute to preserving heritage and ensuring that future generations remain connected to it.

Dhami also underlined the ‘extensive work’ being undertaken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the preservation and promotion of India’s cultural and spiritual legacy. He shared that the state government has undertaken multiple initiatives for the revival of ancient temples in Kumaon, particularly in Manaskhand, akin to the work done in Kedarkhand. Projects worth nearly Rs 1 crore have already been completed for beautification at sacred sites in the region, while work amounting to over Rs 6 crores is in progress for the Hat Kalika Temple in Gangolihat. In addition, modern parking facilities near Bajeti Shani Temple, Hanuman Temple and Laxmi Narayan Temple are also being built at a cost of Rs 43 crores. The CM reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to the comprehensive development of Pithoragarh and adjoining areas.
The CM also shared that work on the Pithoragarh Medical College, with an investment of more than Rs 750 crores, is underway, along with a 50-bed critical care block being added to the hospital at a cost of Rs 21 crores. He added that new bus stations are being developed in Askot, Gangolihat and Dharchula with an allocation of Rs 25 crores, while a new roadways workshop has already been established in Pithoragarh. Furthermore, road construction projects worth over Rs 327 crore are progressing under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Air connectivity has linked Pithoragarh with Haldwani, Dehradun and Delhi, and an MoU has also been signed between the Airports Authority of India and the state government to modernise Naini Saini Airport at a cost of Rs 450 crores, for which work is expected to begin shortly, he claimed.
Dhami referred to the Prime Minister’s call to every Indian to adopt indigenous products to strengthen the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). He expressed happiness that several stalls at the festival showcased products prepared by local artisans, farmers, craftsmen and women’s groups. He further appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to accept the mantra “Swadeshi Apnao, Desh Ko Mazboot Banao” and increase the use of local products.
On the occasion, Dhami also made several key announcements for the district. He said that work would be taken up to treat the landslide-prone hill in Devat Puraula village of Bin block, and safety measures would be introduced along the Nainisaini-Devat Puraula-Kumdar to Kanari motor road. He further announced that Chandak would get an Eco Park and Smriti Van, while the Mostamanu temple would undergo beautification. The Ghantakarn to Chandak Road in Pithoragarh urban area would be double-cut, the Halpati to Mostamanu road would be constructed, and a city garden would come up near Nainisaini Airport.
