St Jude’s School celebrates Christmas on Campus

Dehradun, 16 Dec: Carol singing and Christmas celebrations are deeply intertwined traditions that bring joy, unity, and festive cheer during the holiday season. Rooted in history and religion, these customs have evolved over time to become symbols of merriment and togetherness. The St Jude’s School Singing Competition is a way to showcase vocal talent.
The most awaited Carol Singing Contest is held every year at St Jude’s School. This year, too, the Inter-House Carol Singing Competition was organised with great zeal and enthusiasm on 14 December at the Jonty Multipurpose Auditorium.
This event brought the talented singers together from all the four Houses.
The Competition was divided into three categories – Solo, Duet and Group Singing. The participants were full of enthusiasm and gave their best performances.
They sang carols like ‘Oh Holy Night’, ‘Joy to the World’ and many more. The auditorium echoed with the audience’s applause as the singers began singing their carols.
In the Solo Singing Category, Prathna Rawat of Lyons House sang ‘Oh Holy Night’. Vartika Khattri from Howard House sang ‘Christmas Time’. Priyansh Prakash from Khanna House sang ‘Angels we have heard on high’ and last but not least Liza James from Gardner House sang ‘Mary Did You Know’.
In the Duet Category, from Lyons House the performers were Aayushi and Niswarth. They sang ‘Mary Did You Know’. From Howard House, Ashmit and Anushree sang ‘Last Christmas’, and from Khanna House, Kshitiz Walia and Anshika Negi sang ‘Joy to the World’. Lastly from Gardner House, Josh Scott and Naahar Bhardwaj sang ‘Oh Holy Night’.
In the Group Singing Category, Lyons House sang ‘When a Child is Born’, Howard House sang ‘O Come All Your Faithful’, Khanna House sang ‘Mary’s Boy Child’ and Gardner House sang ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’.
In the Solo Singing Category, Vartika Khatri of Howard House bagged the first position followed by Prarthana Rawat of Lyons House. After the tough competition in the Duet Singing Category, Aayushi and Niswarth of Lyons House secured the first position and there was a tie for the second position, which was awarded to Howard and Lyons Houses. In the Group Singing Category, Lyons House emerged victorious followed by Gardner House.
After the results were declared, Class 4 staff were also given gifts for their hard work and dedication towards the school. A peon or ayah was allocated to each class. Each child in the Class contributed towards the special gift. Rations, solar lamps, heaters were some of the gifts that were taken home.
Kris Kindle took place along with class parties on this special day. Each child bought a thoughtful gift for another. Rations were collected and a bus full of rations along with Carol Singers went to the Sisters of Charity.
