Bansidhar Tiwari assumes charge as DG, Information

Dehradun, 1 Sep: Additional Secretary Bansidhar Tiwari (IAS) assumed charge as the new Director General (DG) of Information at the Information Directorate, here, today. He has replaced IAS Officer Ranveer Singh Chauhan as the new DG. Addressing officers of the Information Department after assuming charge, he observed that the Information Department has an important role to play in bringing the plans and policies of the government to the public. He directed that special attention be given to the use of new technology and better coordination with the media. Various publicity mediums should be used so that the information about the schemes of the government is easily accessible to the general public.
Tiwari directed the senior officials of the department to pay special attention to the use of information technology for the promotion of government schemes. The public had to be made aware of welfare schemes and policies of the government through better coordination with the print and electronic media, as well as through social media. He said that special attention should also be paid to the strengthening of District Information Offices, so that the schemes of the government could be widely publicised and disseminated even in the remote areas of the state.
After assuming charge, Tiwari sought detailed information about various projects and targets of the department from senior officers of the department.
Additional Director Dr Anil Chandola, Joint Director Ashish Tripathi, Deputy Director Manoj Kumar Srivastava, Deputy Director Ravi Bijarnia and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
